The poets and choreographers of UW’s First Wave Learning Community will perform during the April 8, 2017 Saturday Service at First Unitarian Society. The service is from 4:30 – 5:30pm, in the Landmark Auditorium, 900 University Bay Drive. The theme of the service is “Behind the Walls.” We can guarantee a powerful experience.
First Wave is the first university program in the country centered on urban arts, spoken word, and hip hop culture, hoping to provide culturally relevant and transformative arts programming to promote positive social dialogue. During this service, performers will bring to life the human cost of inequity within the criminal justice system, using as their texts first-person accounts by currently and formerly incarcerated people. All MOSES members and their congregations are invited to this ground- breaking performance arts collaboration between First Wave and MOSES.
